Tragedy during the night in Cagliari in via San Rocco: a 74-year-old man, Bruno Frau, died in a fire in his home at number 5. The fire broke out for reasons to be ascertained. In the house there was a wall of paper, cardboard, newspapers and other objects. The firefighters, alerted by the inhabitants of the area to the presence of smoke, struggled to enter due to the presence of a mountain of waste.

The body was taken out and the 118 staff tried to resuscitate him but there was nothing left to do for the man. Flying Squad officers on site. They have started investigations.

Frau was a serial hoarder: the entire house was literally invaded by a mountain of rubbish. Especially old newspapers, cardboard and bags full of objects and clothing. Practically impossible to enter the house: a ladder was needed to get over the wall of waste.
A fire probably broke out inside the house and smoke invaded the entire apartment. The elderly man was unable to get out, or perhaps he was asleep and didn't notice anything. Local police officers also arrived: the road was closed to allow cleaning operations.

Late at night a police bulldozer removed the mountain of waste, accumulated over the years, to allow an inspection of the house. Meanwhile, on the orders of the prosecutor on duty, the pensioner's body was taken, after investigations by the Scientific Police, to the San Michele cemetery.
