He skipped the stop sign, fled, and was chased. His escape ended in a roundabout, where he crashed. The perpetrator of the incident, which occurred overnight in Carbonia, was a twenty-five-year-old, who was ultimately found to be drunk: he was reported at large.
The incident began along Via Nazionale, where officers were stationed at a checkpoint to ensure traffic safety . Upon seeing the patrol ordering him to stop, the young man, instead of stopping, suddenly accelerated.

A short chase ensued, which ended a short distance further on, at the roundabout near the industrial area.

Due to the high speed and the driver's state of intoxication, he lost control of the car and crashed into the flowerbeds. Fortunately, no one was injured on impact.
Officers, who arrived immediately at the scene of the accident, secured the area and rescued the driver, who was immediately found to be unresponsive: the 25-year-old tested positive for a breathalyzer, with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. The car was impounded.
