The young man who sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in the town of Porto Torres on Sunday afternoon has a name and a face . The man, a 26-year-old Algerian , already known to the police with a criminal record related to drug use, is subject to a precautionary measure requiring him to sign in and prohibiting him from leaving the town without authorization.

The Carabinieri of the Porto Torres company were able to identify him thanks to the description provided by the minor and the images from the video surveillance cameras in the area.

On Sunday afternoon, while the girl was walking alone on Via Sassari, the man, wearing a black tracksuit, greeted the 14-year-old, initially approaching her but receiving no response. He then approached her, attempting to grope her, but the girl fought back, and in an attempt to break free, the molester grabbed her hair to restrain her . The girl managed to free herself and run toward her home. Within the confines of her home, she was able to recount what had happened. Her parents immediately reported the incident to the Carabinieri at the Via Antonelli station, under the command of Stefano Scurti, who heard the girl's account, still distraught and in shock.

The matter has been reported to the Sassari Public Prosecutor's Office, which may decide to apply further precautionary measures.
