A 61-year-old unemployed man from Gonnosfanadiga, already known to the police, was arrested yesterday evening for the crime of possession with intent to sell narcotics.

The man, who attempted to flee at the sight of the Carabinieri carrying out routine checks in the area, was found in possession, during a search of his home, of 100 grams of hashish, packaging materials , and a perfectly functioning precision scale. Two knives with clear traces of the drug were also seized, as well as €235 in cash, divided into small denomination bills and believed to be the likely proceeds of the illegal activity.

Following the formal procedures, the man was placed under house arrest pending a validation hearing scheduled by the Judicial Authority for this morning in the Cagliari Courthouse.
