A little rain wasn't enough: Sardinia remains very thirsty. This is confirmed by the latest monitoring data from the Regional Basin Authority: the situation is critical but not yet dramatic, even if in some areas - especially in the north - vigilance is maximum, so much so that plans are already being prepared to address the needs of the coming months.
The update is as of May 31: out of an availability of the reservoirs equal to 1,824 million cubic meters of water, the water present in the dams is equal to 1,145.63 million, i.e. 62.8%, down compared to 65, 5% in April when 1,194 million cubic meters were present in the Sardinian artificial basins.
But in comparison with the same period last year the difference is 16 percentage points, 1,433.25 million cubic meters in May 2023 or 78.6%.
Among the critical issues is the Alto Cixerri, with the Punta Gennarta and Medau Zirimilis reservoirs, with an availability of water resources equal to only 14.8% and a status indicator that is already at the emergency level.
The water system of Ogliastra, Posada (Maccheronis dam) and the reservoirs of the north-western water system, Alto Coghinas and Alto Taloro, are in an "alert" situation .
The situation is better in the Tirso (93.4%) and Liscia 77% basins, less good in the Flumendosa basin with 45.4%.
