Goodbye summer . At 8:19 PM Italian time tomorrow, September 22nd, the autumnal equinox will occur . The sun will be high above the equator, and the hours of daylight and darkness will be the same across the globe, marking the arrival of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern Hemisphere.

A change of season also marked by bad weather: a low-pressure system is approaching Italy, bringing rain and rapidly falling temperatures, starting in the northwestern regions. "Heavy and widespread rainfall" is expected, some of which may be particularly severe: the incoming cool air mass, colliding with the warm air stationary over Italy, is likely to cause downpours, including in Sardinia.

On the island, a yellow alert (ordinary criticality) for hydrogeological risk due to thunderstorms has been issued by the Civil Protection for tomorrow, from 9am to 6pm , with reference to the areas of Oristano, Logudoro, Sassarese and upper Gallura.

The recommendations remain the same: stay indoors, limiting car travel to emergencies only; avoid staying near bridges, embankments, streams, rivers, and underpasses during heavy rain; and stay informed about the development of the weather, the measures to be taken, and the procedures to follow as indicated by local civil protection agencies.

From Tuesday, temperatures will then drop, with a reduction, experts specify, "of up to 10° in a few hours".
