Pellets are nowhere to be found. And when they do exist, they're worth their weight in gold. Adiconsum Sardsegna is stepping in forcefully with two measures, a complaint to the Public Prosecutor's Office and another to the Antitrust Authority: "We want to investigate possible cartels and speculative maneuvers," the association states.

"The local pellet shortage is leading to a sudden price increase in those stores that still have the fuel available, selling at much higher prices than normal," explains President Giorgio Vargiu. "This could be a potential source of speculation to the detriment of families, considering that pellets are not an accessory, but an essential product for heating homes during the winter months."

For these reasons, Adiconsum is filing complaints with the public prosecutor's offices in Cagliari, Sassari, Nuoro, Oristano, Lanusei, and Tempio Pausania to investigate potential crimes such as speculative trading on goods.

At the same time, a report will be sent to the Antitrust Authority to investigate any potential cartels or unfair commercial practices detrimental to consumers. Finally, we will urge Mister Prezzi (Price Guarantor) to urgently monitor the situation in Sardinia.

"Beyond anyone's responsibility for the delayed supplies, it's intolerable that anyone would think they can get rich by exploiting families' need," adds Vargiu.
