Godano, Giovanardi, Toffolo: the stars of Sonala under the sky of Ovodda

The great Sonala carpet will be weft, fabric, and silk. Toffolo, Godano, Giovanardi. The blessed triad of Italian independent rock, the brilliant minds of Marlene Kuntz, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, and La Crus. They are the embroidery of the festival, with a town all around. Sò-na-la. An imperative. There's even more Ovodda in this edition, dancing among the town's houses and squares. The colors of a simple and creative weave, never banal. Sònala is the festival that never was, a vessel intoxicated with summer and joy, ready for a new journey. The fourth edition is scheduled for July 25th and 26th.

The musical event, conceived and designed by the Sònala music association, under the artistic direction of Pierpaolo Vacca, accordion player and native Ovoddo native, is in its fourth year. The organizational machine is already running at full speed. The fuel is tradition, culture, music, community, association, and openness to the world. "We have always believed in music as a universal language, capable of overcoming linguistic, cultural, and social barriers," explains Pierpaolo Vacca. "Music tells stories, unites people, and gives voice to what words often fail to express." And emotions will also speak. "This year, we've focused on a national and international lineup, supported by top-level Sardinian artists," comments Vacca. " Our goal, as always, has been to bring music and musicians to the people, immersing them in the everyday spaces of Ovoddo life: the streets, the squares, and the mountain sites. Familiar places, often unusual for concerts, but full of history, memory, and meaning ."

The Sonala preview is dedicated to children. It kicks off on July 23rd with Sorichitta, the housewife mouse. The show is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the community center and is organized in collaboration with the Cresciamo Giocando association. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on July 24th with Jota.Pê. The Brazilian artist arrives in Ovodda for a stop on his 2025 Eurotour, "Se o meu peito fosse o mundo." The three-time Latin Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and beatmaker (2024) will be at 10:00 p.m. on Via Mazzini. From the sounds of samba and rap, the show moves on to the written word and the cello. The festival really gets into full swing on July 25th, with Flavio Soriga and Gianluca Pischedda performing "La storia siamo noi" (History is Us), voices, sounds, and notes from Sardinia, an original production by Insulae Lab, a music and production center in Berchidda. Still in Muntorroi, but at 7:30 pm, the performance continues with "Rive" by the duo Ilaria Porceddu & Emanuele Contis. Porceddu (piano and vocals) and Contis (sax) will enchant the audience with their refined music. After dinner, at 10 pm, the event moves to Piazza Lamarmora for the audiovisual performance by Davide Toffolo and Franziscu Medda Arrogalla. The title is "The Rite of Painting in Bolu," a project dedicated to Sardinian wildlife, an original production by the Ragazze Terribili association. Davide Toffolo (vocals and visuals), guitarist, cartoonist, and singer-songwriter, as well as frontman of Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, and Arrogalla (live electronics), a Sardinian producer and sound artist, created the project during a journey across the island, recording sounds of nature and the city. A fusion of live painting, electronic music, nature sounds, and improvisation.

The second day will be held in Gonnari Park. At 6:30 pm, there will be a rock event with Cristiano Godano and his "Stammi Accanto" tour. At 7:30 pm, Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi (four-time Tenco Award winner), accompanied by Luca Guidi on acoustic guitar, will perform "Accarezzami Musica."

And there will be space for art with Ungron Art S'Istentu Arte comunità memoria (Art Community Memory), curated by Ovodda artist Michela Vacca. During the festival, you can participate in a public weaving project to create a large carpet using recycled warp and weft yarns . Music will weave the notes of the Sonala to further strengthen the threads between the territory, the community, and its guests. And everyone will be the weft, fabric, and silk of a magical warp.
