Sardinian journalism loses one of its most authoritative and respected protagonists: Gianni Filippini, director of the Unione Sarda from 1977 to 1986 and later a columnist and for a long time, from the beginning of the 2000s to 2018, editorial director, died at the age of 90 . In this last assignment, and in particular in the care of the titles and series published by the masthead, he was able to reconcile his two prevailing passions: journalism and culture. The latter cultivated it - or it would be more correct to say served it, as the English understand this so civic verb - as municipal councilor of Cagliari in the Delogu council and in the 16 years as presenter of "Sardegna d'autore" on Videolina.
Passionate about art and fiction, ironic but capable of great affection towards his younger colleagues, curious about the life he explored first as a passionate traveler and then, late in life, as a surfer of social networks , Gianni Filippini was still a point of reference for those who provide information. A message of appreciation from him for an article was a medal, a chat with him was an intellectual pleasure, but also an occasion for a sincere laugh. Thank you Director, the ink is light on you.
