The sixth edition of the "Wild asparagus festival" in Gesturi was a success. The suggestive narrow streets of the historic center were full of people who had come from all parts of the island, and beyond. There was also a large number of tourists, who took advantage of the splendid day to discover the beauties of the area proposed by the organizers.

In the 2019 edition there were around ten thousand attendances, in all likelihood this number was largely exceeded yesterday. This data is justified by the presence of cars also in the new car park in the town of Santa Barbara, which was missing in previous editions and was completely full. Among the various seated stations that distributed asparagus-based menus, there were over two thousand meals distributed, without considering the stations with take-away menus.

Satisfaction from the municipal administration in the words of the mayor Ediberto Cocco: «All the associations of the town and the private individuals felt encouraged to organize something for the success of the event, in a climate of collaboration and with the desire to give an excellent image of You gesture».

The contribution of the barracellare company and the police forces was important, who supervised and guaranteed security for the complete success of the event: «We are happy that the festival has attracted so many people to our country and we are satisfied for having contributed, as a company, to everyone's safety." This is how the captain of the barracella company of the town expresses himself, Lallo Casu, who among other things is among the creators of the first editions of the festival, a few years ago. He adds: «We had to think about which festival could best represent our country and since there are so many asparagus seekers whose reputation is known in half of Marmilla and beyond, that of asparagus seemed to us the most suitable. The rest is history."

In addition to celebrating and enhancing the main protagonist, the day offered food and wine itineraries with local products, tastings and excursions in the Giara Park, with shuttle connections from the town centre. There was no shortage of culture and folklore: a parade of the traditional Sos Corriolos masks by Neoneli which, despite the more than spring temperatures certainly made it tiring, was much appreciated by the audience. Again, demonstrations of the ancient art of dyeing wool with examples of dyeing herbs, then falconers, trained falcons and performances by medieval musicians for a journey through time with the Historic Archers of Sanluri. There was no lack of preparation of the nougat, lots of music and group dances and finally, a huge crowd with the music of the Istentales.
