He was on vacation in Alghero , as he usually does during the summer season. Angelo Gambino, a Genoese pensioner, was struck by an acute ischemia in the right coronary artery , which fortunately resolved itself in a bad scare: «Thanks to the emergency services», he says, «of the staff of the Alghero Emergency Department, of the cardiologist on duty and of the staff who promptly realized the origin of the problem, immediately referring me to the intensive care unit of the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari ».

And it is here that Gambino would have received impeccable assistance: «I found competence. They put a coronary "stent" on me, thanks to which I hope I haven't suffered serious damage to my heart. Often on the “continent”», continues the pensioner, «one has the mistaken belief that healthcare on the island is not up to par, but with this experience of mine I want to dispel this commonplace ».

Not only that: «At the same time, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and immense gratitude to all the personnel who assisted me, from the surgeons to the doctors, to the nurses and the obs and, if you allow, also to the cook himself and his helpers for the excellent food".
