More than 400 general practitioners are missing in Sardinia: 433, to be exact. There are many vacant seats banned by the regional health department. Mountain areas, plains, coasts and interior: reading the list of centers discovered on 31 December, no territory of Sardinia is safe: basic health care is missing almost everywhere.

Interested white coats have until March 8 to apply. And the mayor of Fonni, Daniela Falconi, does not place faith in the successful outcome of the procedure: "I don't think that those posts will all be filled", she explains, "there are 55 general practitioners in the province of Nuoro". But there are 74 in the ASL of Sassari (11 in the capital) and 128 in that of Cagliari: 27 between the capital, Monserrato, Quartucciu, Selargius, Settimo San Pietro. Even the big centers are not out of the emergency, therefore.

The mayor of Barbagia launches an appeal, without too many words: «Councillor Doria, regional council, all regional councilors, guys: here it is a mess», she underlines, «find the strength, the resources, the imagination to reduce this emergency. Today, that tomorrow is already late. You need the same imagination used to get "all together" to close the financial. Whenever you want, you have shown us that you can. Prove it to us again», adds the first citizen, with a touch of sarcasm.

Because in his country the situation continues to worsen: "Dr. Cugusi, the second general practitioner, has retired here," warns Falconi, "as of today over 2,000 patients from Fonnesi are orphans."
