The father's legal fate is no longer that of his son. Two men from Nuoro were sentenced to four years in 2024 for cannabis cultivation. On the land of a farm in Galtellì, registered to the 62-year-old father, the 28-year-old son had established a cannabis sativa plantation. During a 2023 inspection, law enforcement found 1,760 cannabis plants, along with several packages of the same substance, and hypothesized that the resulting quantities could yield 37 kg of the active ingredient.

After the initial conviction by the Nuoro court, attorney Maria Assunta Argiolas appealed, requesting a reversal of the sentence. Among her arguments was the father's complete innocence in the matter, based on the young man's statements, who assumed full responsibility. At the same time, she requested that the aggravating circumstance of the large quantity of drugs be reviewed and mitigating circumstances be recognized.

The Sassari Court of Appeal, presided over by Salvatore Marinaro, with Maria Teresa Lupinu and Carmela Rita Serra co-chairing, ruled on the case. Acquitting the 62-year-old for not having committed the crime and incorporating the possession of the narcotic substance into the cultivation, it reviewed the 28-year-old's sentence, sentencing him to three years and a €15,000 fine.
