A homemade knife measuring 21 centimeters in length, hastily hidden in a trash can: this is what officers from the Flying Squad recovered yesterday morning near the ARST station in Piazza Matteotti in Cagliari.
It all began with a report to 112 regarding an argument between foreign nationals. At the end of their initial response, the officers reported two people at large . However, the officers chose to remain in the area to monitor the situation and, shortly thereafter, noticed several individuals continuing to argue heatedly. Upon entering the station area, the officers saw one of the individuals attempting to strike his opponent in the face with an object he was holding . Upon seeing the police, the man quickly headed for the trash cans, disposing of his belongings. They immediately reached him, secured him, and searched him without success. However, a search of the trash can yielded the weapon, which was subsequently seized.
The man was then arrested for unauthorized possession of a weapon, with the aggravating circumstance provided for by Article 4 bis introduced by the so-called Security Decree for conduct carried out in the immediate vicinity of a train station.
At the end of the validation hearing, the investigating judge ordered him to report to the judicial police.
