Gaia Costa, who was hit and killed in Porto Cervo, the manager driving the SUV, was sentenced to one year.

Vivian Spohr, the German manager and wife of the CEO of Lufthansa who on 8 July 2025 hit the 24-year-old woman from Tempio, Gaia Costa, with her BMW SUV , killing her on a pedestrian crossing in the centre of Porto Cervo , pleaded guilty to one year in prison with a two-year suspension of her driving licence.

Last February, the Tempio Pausania prosecutor's office closed the investigation into the young woman's death , placing Vivian Spohr in the register of suspects, accused of road homicide.

The incident occurred on July 8, shortly before 1:00 PM, at the pedestrian crossing near the intersection with Via della Goletta. According to the report by the prosecutor's consultant, engineer Marco Antonio Pes, the vehicle's impact with the 24-year-old woman was attributable to severe distraction on the part of the driver, who apparently failed to notice the young pedestrian while checking the traffic ahead. Weather conditions were excellent, visibility was clear, and the road surface was dry.

The tragedy had shocked the whole of Gallura: Gaia Costa was the daughter of a well-known trade unionist.

The preliminary investigations judge Marcella and the prosecutor Milena Aucone, as well as the civil party lawyer Antonello Desini, who has not yet released any statements, are aware of the sentence.
