Important acknowledgment of the Cagliari Lions Host club to the Sassari Brigade for the humanitarian activities carried out.

The Lions have decided to confer the " Global Humanitarian Service Recognition " to the Sassarini for their peacekeeping missions in numerous theaters of war. The solemn ceremony will be held on May 23 at the THotel.

The peacekeeping activities carried out in Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon are remembered, but also the aid provided in the event of natural disasters such as the 2013 flood in Olbia .

The recognition will be delivered by the president of Lions Club Cagliari Host Girolamo Campisi to the commander of the Sassari Brigade Giuseppe Bossa . Also present at the ceremony was Colonel Attilio Argese, commander of the 151st Sassari Infantry Regiment stationed in Cagliari.

Several speeches are planned: Andrea Onano will recall the birth and particular identity of the Brigade, made up almost exclusively of Sardinians . Gabriele Asunis will speak on the relationship between the Lions clubs of Sardinia and the Sassari Brigade, born in 2014.

The Lions, it is specified, want to celebrate, spread and keep the image and role of the Brigade alive in the community of the Island, which has always been a source of pride for the Sardinians. In this regard, they have become the protagonists of numerous activities: the diffusion of educational material on the history of the Sassarini in the schools, the establishment of a fund which has made it possible to assign 28 scholarships to the children of the Sassarini who died in service.

The motivation of the recognition will be read by the president: "To the Sassari Brigade for the constant, incessant altruistic commitment given to the service of peace, the protection of human life and the moral and natural values that place the human being at the center of the world".
