They all worked in the dairy and salami factory owned by the family of the mayor of the town, Fattorie Gennargentu, the four very young people from Fonni, who died yesterday in the road accident on provincial road 69 on the outskirts of the town in the Nuoro area : their names were Michele Coinu, 20 years old, who was perhaps driving the red Fiat Punto of eighteen-year-old Marco Innocenti. With them were Michele Soddu, 20 years old, and Lorenzo Figus, 17.

The bodies, discovered shortly before midnight and after the search began when the boys had not returned for dinner , have already been returned to their families this morning.

The dynamics of the accident appear clear: the boys, who had left their homes in the afternoon and were all in the same car, a Fiat Punto. According to an initial reconstruction by the police and doctors who arrived on the scene, the time of death would date back to mid-evening, therefore around 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. The search is difficult after the alarm was raised by the boys' parents after 8:00 p.m.

On the road, at the point where the car flew into the embankment, no skid marks were found. Hence the many hours spent by relatives, friends, police and firefighters searching for the car and the four youngsters. The news of the death of the four youngsters shocked the town of Fonni.

Tonight the community will rally around the families with a torchlight procession organized by the parish priest Don Luciano Monni, which will start from the parish of San Giovanni Battista at 8:00 PM and will pass in front of the homes of the four dead boys. The funerals are scheduled for tomorrow and the municipal administration has announced, for the occasion, a day of mourning.
