They are accused of being part of a criminal organization that, including using drones, smuggled cell phones, drugs, and other materials into Sardinian prisons.
Three men and a woman, all from the province of Foggia, represented by lawyer Pietro Cherchi, were taken to the Tempio Pausania courthouse this morning for a hearing to validate the arrests made in the past few hours.
According to the few details that have emerged so far, the four were caught in a complex operation conducted by the Guardia di Finanza (Italian Finance Police). The woman was reportedly arrested two days ago in Olbia, while the three alleged accomplices were subsequently arrested upon disembarkation from a ship that docked at Isola Bianca. The Guardia di Finanza also seized a drone.
The investigation's hypothesis is that they were the protagonists of a network that managed to deliver prohibited material to inmates locked up in the island's penitentiaries, with controls initiated by Bancali.
More information may emerge in the next few hours.
