Fonni gathers around the families affected by the recent road tragedies of “Caravai” and San Teodoro and cancels the stage of Autunno in Barbagia of December 7 and 8. In the last few hours, municipal administrators, associations, productive activities and citizens have announced their intention to stop for the next few weeks. A new possible date is hypothesized for the end of January.

The pain in the local community is too great, still shaken by the deaths of the very young Michele Coinu, Marco Innocenti, Michele Soddu and Lorenzo Figus, and lastly that of the entrepreneur Mauro Falconi .

From here, after a series of meetings open to the entire population, late yesterday evening the shared decision to postpone the Cortes. Through a wide statement, institutions and citizens explained: "The town wants to show itself to visitors again with its truest smile, with its finned ability to welcome anyone. And that is why this year the event stops for the Immaculate Conception and will be postponed. Out of respect for everyone's pain, but also out of respect for those who would like to come and visit us ."

And in specifying how the reflection was broader and not limited to the Cortes alone, he then specified: « The meetings of these days were not held to decide whether or not to hold Cortes Apertas . The meetings were held to listen to each other, to underline the enormous value of Fonnese volunteering which once again, as it has been in the past, will be decisive in reviving a lost community».

But it is in the passage on the "spirit of aggregation and sociality that has always led dozens of Fonnesi to make themselves available to the community" that the desire to "help a town that today seems lost find serenity" emerged, but also "the desire to start again together, but taking all the necessary time".

Hence the emphasis on how for decades "Cortes Apertas has been the heritage of the country" with important repercussions on the economic fabric, and an entire community ready to make everyone feel at home. But not in this tragic moment, as the actors in the field have remarked : "Can an event of this magnitude be organized with the same joy, the same community involvement, the same harmony when the country still has its eyes swollen with tears for the greatest tragedy that has ever happened?"

For this reason, Fonni looks to the future ready to rise again with greater strength : «These days, these weeks will serve all of us not to stop but to find new stimuli to start again, to realize how much this test, unjust and incomprehensible, has been a way to rediscover a united, serious, supportive, close community».
