The fleet is growing to oppose the wind energy invasion off the Sulcis coast.
The wind yesterday morning kept many boats docked in Carloforte and Portoscuso, preventing them from safely reaching the area where Ichnusa Wind Power would like to build a gigantic offshore wind farm , as had been planned. However, it did not stop the demonstration organized by the "Carloforte Anti-Energy Speculation Committee." The organizers had invited people to demonstrate by staying on their boats in the harbor or on the pier, and this was the case for much of the morning in Portoscuso, where the wind helped the dozens of flags to wave vigorously, sending the message loud and clear: "Sulcis will not surrender to the wind invasion."
Portoscuso Mayor Ignazio Atzori and the town's parish priest, Don Antonio Mura, joined the protesters at the pier: "In an area devastated by pollution and unemployment, further invasions cannot be accepted," the mayor said.
