Moments of fear for the 160 passengers on board the Ryanair flight that was about to take off, today at 13.30, from Parma airport to Cagliari: when the aircraft picked up speed, a roar was heard and an engine caught fire.

Immediately the plane slowed down, stopping on the runway with the intervention of the fire brigade. The company staff immediately reassured the people on board, also worried about the strong smell of burning, then made to get off by the rescuers and returned on foot to the airport directly from the runway. No injuries but just a huge fright.

Technical investigations are underway to understand what caused the fire. Probably during the take-off phase a bird ended up in the engine turbine causing the blaze and the start of the stake.

The passengers, many of them Sardinians, then waited for the arrival of another plane to be able to return to Sardinia.
