Fires in the Cagliari area, 50 interventions by the firefighters
Still flames at the gates of the city, the fire alert remains high
A good part of Cagliari has been invaded by smoke driven by the mistral coming from a fire that broke out last night. The firefighters are still busy in Viale Elmas extinguishing several outbreaks.
About 50 interventions in the Cagliari area since the afternoon. And many of these for potentially dangerous situations due to their proximity to population centers.
Operations began in Sestu around 16.30 with several outbreaks to be tackled simultaneously: three teams and two tankers and self-contained tank were sent from the operations center. The teams of Pula and Solanas also arrived in support and the Drago VVF 144 helicopter was also used.
Other fires later in Viale Elmas: the teams are currently in action to prevent the fires, already almost completely extinguished, from creating new dangerous situations.
The maximum alert continues today in Sardinia for the danger of new fires, due to high temperatures and strong mistral gusts.
