With the update of the 2023-2025 regional fire regulations, the firefighting campaign kicks off today in Sardinia. Approximately 7,400 men will work in Sardinia, including personnel from the regional forestry corps, the fire brigade, the Forestas agency, fire brigade companies and volunteers with a total of 1,100 ground vehicles and, like last year, three Canadairs will be stationed at Olbia airport.

To these will be added the 11 helicopters of 900 liters each of the Regional Forestry Corps , which are part of the tender for the assignment of the service for the three-year period 2021-2023 which also provides for the use of a super Puma heavy helicopter in a second lot from 4 thousand liters of water from 1 July to 31 August. However, the Region has already formally asked the National Department of Civil Protection for the possibility of having a Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane, better known as an Elitanker, on the island.

Also starting today are the warnings on the danger of fire risk which are published on the page dedicated to the bulletin on the basis of four levels: low danger with the green code; average with the yellow one; high with the color orange; extreme danger with code red.

From June 1st to October 31st, there is a high risk of forest fire throughout the region, which entails the prohibition, except for specific exceptions, of a whole series of actions in the countryside and beyond.
