The strong mistral wind blowing across Sardinia has been creating problems for days for the regional firefighting machine dealing with several large forest fires.

After the intense work carried out yesterday in the Nuoro and Oristano areas, the national and regional fleet is busy in Ogliastra to put out a fire in the Gairo countryside, in the Nuraghe Coccu area.

To try to quickly tame the flames, driven by the gusts, the Regional Forestry Corps requested the intervention of a Canadair from Olbia which is supporting the helicopter activity (Fenosu's Super Puma and two other light helicopters) and the operations of the teams on the ground. The latter are also limited by the lack of rural roads in the area: the fire front is difficult to reach.
