Fire in an apartment in the urban center of Ploaghe. The fire broke out this morning, at lunchtime, due to a malfunctioning oven, in the home of an 84-year-old pensioner who was intoxicated by smoke. The fire developed in the kitchen on the first floor of a four-level building.

The man was burned on the face and intoxicated, due to the gas leak that caused a backfire when he tried to turn on the oven. After being helped by neighbors, he was taken by the Carabinieri outside the house and entrusted to the care of the 118 health workers, who rushed to the scene. The elderly man was immediately transferred to the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari.

Kept under observation by doctors, his life is not in danger. Also on site were the firefighters' teams from the provincial command of Sassari who, after having put out the flames, proceeded to secure the house.
