It was a difficult afternoon in Alta Gallura in terms of firefighting. The firefighting team was alerted to two potentially very dangerous situations, which were resolved quickly.

A fire reported shortly before 4:00 PM inside a large photovoltaic plant on the slopes of Mount Limbara is causing concern. The fire covers several hectares, adjacent to the industrial area and close to the Limbara SCI.

Firefighters, Carabinieri, volunteers from the Alta Gallura Civil Protection Unit, and a Lombardy team operating in Tempio Pausania under an agreement between the Regions of Sardinia and Lombardy responded. The flames were extinguished immediately, and damage is limited. The fire started in an area littered with panels and sheathed cables. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but arson has been ruled out. Investigations are underway to determine whether the fire originated near a power line at the facility.

Alarm also rose in the Monti Russu pine forest on the Aglientu coast due to a new fire at the site devastated by a blaze two weeks ago. Forestry Corps personnel from Tempio, Palau, and Luogosanto responded immediately, and rescue operations were carried out by helicopter from the Limbara base.

The re-ignition was neutralized. Despite the clearing efforts of the Tempio Civil Protection volunteers using hoes and monitoring with a drone, flames flared up again from the pine forest litter.
