The history , traditions and folklore of Sardinia are the undisputed protagonists of the Festa del Redentore , the event that every year for over a century has attracted thousands of tourists and pilgrims to Nuoro and Mount Ortobene , where the bronze statue of the Redeemer is raised: the city is a sell-out.

The 124th edition kicks off on Saturday afternoon , culminating today – Sunday 25 August – with the traditional costume parade (live streaming from 10 am on Videolina) and concluding on Thursday 29 August with the celebration of mass at the Ortobene.

THE PROGRAM – The start, as mentioned, yesterday evening,   with the parade of the traditional masks of the Island that from Piazza Sardegna crossed Via Lamarmora, Corso Garibaldi, Piazza Mazzini to arrive in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.

Today at 10 the long-awaited parade of traditional costumes in which this year 50 groups participate with as many outfits . An explosion of colors, fabrics and precious jewels that showcase the identity and sense of belonging of the Sardinian people. Departure from Viale del Lavoro to then reach Piazza Mazzini and Piazza Santa Maria della Neve for the blessing of the bishop of the diocese of Nuoro, Monsignor Antonello Mura to the participants.

At 12 the parade of knights preceded by a representation of the mounted corps of the Carabinieri.

At 7 pm the regional folklore festival at the Frogheri stadium (Quadrivio) with the performance of dozens of traditional dance and singing groups from different territories of the island.

The religious moment on Thursday 29th at 6am with the pilgrimage of the faithful from the Cathedral to Monte Ortobene, where at 11am the solemn celebration of the holy mass officiated by the bishop of the diocese and accompanied by the Nuoro choirs is scheduled.
