Ferdinando Coghe is the new medical director of the University Hospital of Cagliari. To appoint him, Agnese Foddis, extraordinary commissioner of the Aou.

Coghe, 65, is currently the director of the Services department and the Analysis Laboratory of the Duilio Casula Polyclinic and of San Giovanni di Dio.

In the last year and a half, his has been a key role in the Covid emergency, given that the Aou laboratory is the reference center for the analysis and sequencing of swabs in the Southern area Sardinia: in total, about 350 thousand swabs have been examined in the structure of the Polyclinic alone, almost 200 thousand in 2021.

And the Head of State made him a Knight of Merit for the Republic.

Graduated in Medicine and specialized in Pathological Anatomy, he has held numerous positions throughout his career. For example, he was director of the complex structure of clinical pathology (laboratory of clinical chemical analysis and microbiology) of the Sirai hospital in Carbonia but also director of the Department of Clinical Pathology and of the coordination area of clinical pathology (Laboratori di Iglesias and of Carbonia, transfusion centers of Iglesias and Carbonia, Pathological Anatomy) of the Asl 7 of Carbonia.
