Farewell to Mario Sinis , better known as " Camarrau ", who died at the age of 72 after a long illness. One of the last “Tupamaros de la Muralla”.

In Alghero everyone knew him and everyone respected him. Always ready to plead the causes of the weakest, never aggressive, even if he could afford it with his muscles.

Until the disease weakened him, Mario Camarrau practiced “ral” fishing , a not at all simple technique for catching fish from the ground, with the launch of a net . It was a sight to see him in action under the ancient ramparts.

"A legend has left us," commented former mayor Marco Tedde. «After Agostino "L'Ozio", Antonino the "Negra", Salvatore "Biu Bau" also the "Tupamaros" left us. An icon of adventure and the outdoors. The greatest representative of the genetic make-up of the Algherese "Muralla". The last bastion of an Alghero that no longer exists. Hello Mario Camarrau. Rest in peace".

Many testimonials of affection and esteem that have been published on social networks in the last few hours. «Man sculpted by the Mistral - writes Franca Pischedda on her bulletin board - Mario, more than an ordinary man, was a myth for all the friends of the muralla... one of those who was enough to give the word with a glance, one whose code of honor was loyalty. There were no corners of the historic center that his hooves hadn't traversed, just as there were no tourists who, seeing it, didn't fall in love with it».

The funeral will be celebrated tomorrow, Tuesday 14 March, at 10.30 in the cathedral of Santa Maria in Alghero, starting from the morgue of the Civil Hospital of Sassari.
