Farewell to Giorgio Ferrari who loved cinema and the theaters dedicated to the seventh art . He was 67 years old, born in Cagliari. He contributed to the development of cinematographic culture in the City of the Sun.

Its outpost was "Il Vicoletto" , the small room in via San Giacomo, in the Villanova district, the space dedicated to quality films, in the wake of original choices, often alternatives to those of larger spaces.

First screenings and retrospectives, Il Vicoletto, born in the late Seventies of the last century, has always given viewers pleasant surprises. The film critic Gianni Olla, custodian of many celluloid memories, in an article published in the magazine Cinemecum, recalls that «in addition to the ever-present Cineteca sarda, guarantor not only of debates but also of a filmic quality based on the classics of the Seventh Art, small “resistance” film clubs were born such as Il glorioso Vicoletto by Giorgio Ferrari which relied on the catalogue of San Paolo or on normal commercial distribution».

Ferrari was the master of ceremonies. In his kingdom he moved with a stealthy step, elegance and aplomb. Total commitment: from the delivery of membership cards, according to the spirit of the film club, to the management of the projection equipment up to the polite and elegant greeting to the spectators at the end of the film .

He was driven by a great love for cinema, a passion that enriched his life and that in more recent times led him to found the Greenwich d'essai in via Sassari , which continues to be, in an environment that has undergone whirlwind changes in recent years, a point of reference for many cinephiles in line with the experience of Vicoletto. He was also a protagonist on TV as the presenter of the program "Il Calderone" on Videolina, at the end of the Seventies.

Giorgio Ferrari, who was gifted with a voice very suitable for acting, was also a stage actor . The memory of his Mandragola brought to the stage in the early 1980s, with shows for students, is still alive. Shy, for him it was better to build than to appear. There are no photos of him on the web. In the image published on social media by his son Andrea, a musician, leader of the group Carovana Folk, he is shown smiling .

All that remains is to thank him for his commitment, for the happy choices and for the beautiful films seen , even more than once to grasp all their meanings, on the big screen of his Vicoletto.
