A new scam is running via SMS and is affecting citizens' trust in health institutions . In recent days, several people have reported to the ASL of Oristano the receipt of fake health-related messages, apparently sent by the offices of the local health company, with the invitation to call a toll number with the prefix 895.
The text of the trap message reads: "Please contact our ASL offices at the following number 895... for communications that concern you." A detail that betrays the deception is the lowercase "l" in the word ASL, a detail that could escape those who read distractedly. But the deception is much more insidious: the number indicated does not belong to ASL 5 and, according to initial reconstructions, would have the purpose of draining the telephone credit of those who fall into the trap.
The ASL of Oristano categorically denies sending these messages and invites citizens to exercise maximum caution : do not respond, do not call the indicated number and, in case of doubt, it is advisable to contact the official channels directly.
