The highest alert has been issued for the coasts of eastern Sardinia. This alert also extends to the Cagliari area. For Sunday, August 3rd, the Regional Civil Protection Department has issued a bulletin indicating extreme danger, the so-called red code, for the Cagliari area.

Experts warn that weather and environmental conditions are likely to generate highly intense, rapidly spreading fires , capable of escalating into massive blazes within hours, even with coordinated intervention by regional and state air forces.

The map released by the Civil Protection shows a risk distribution that affects several areas of Sardinia, but it is in the eastern part of the island that the danger reaches the most critical levels.
