Sardinia is in default on essential care.

This was revealed by the Gimbe Foundation in an analysis relating to the monitoring of the Lea, the essential levels of assistance, through the new guarantee system , whose data already published by the Ministry of Health show that only 11 regions were compliant in 2020.

And the Island is not among them, with a maximum score of 179 out of 300 .

In detail   it is only 15th among the regions and autonomous provinces on the basis of the total score on the services that the national health service provides free of charge or through the payment of a ticket . According to the new guarantee system (Nsg) it recorded an insufficient score in the district area (48.95 out of 60, placing it in 20th place out of 21 regions) and in the hospital area (59.26 out of 60, 17th place ).

Better on the prevention front where the island is in 11th place.

The Gimbe Foundation has also analyzed the differences between the 2020 and 2019 obligations, to assess the impact of the pandemic on the total scores of the regions. Compared to 2019, in 2020 the total scores worsened in all regions - with the exception of the Autonomous Province of Trento and Valle d'Aosta - demonstrating that the pandemic represented a strong "stress test" for Italian healthcare. Among the 11 regions with a gap of more than 20 points - "located in the South, in fact spared from the first wave" - there is also Sardinia with a score of -27.2.
