For the eighth consecutive year Ussassai remains without the Trenino Verde. The Ogliastra village of 480 inhabitants is waiting for the works on the route to be completed and so once again it loses the opportunity of a tourist attraction important for its survival.

The situation was defined "unsustainable" by the mayor Francesco Usai, who took a pen and paper and wrote a harsh letter to the Province of Nuoro, the Region and the councilor for tourism Giorgio Todde.

“I learn of the joyful emphasis of everyone, tour operators, politicians and many others, of the start of the 2022 tourist season of the Green Train, while Ussasai remains out of it again this year - writes the mayor -. I express my strong regret at not being able to benefit from it, despite the efforts made in eight years by the current council and by local entrepreneurs to enhance the territory, starting with the delivery of the works, which have long been postponed and never ended up in the trafficking ".

On a rampage, Usai, also because this year insult is added to the usual damage. "If until last August - continues the mayor - tourists could at least photograph the landscape that framed the majesty of the railway bridge, today the scaffolding made to allow the works cages and hides the metal truss and the transit is extremely dangerous, enough to prevent access ".

The mayor also mentions the other problems of the village, from the lack of a doctor to a "dilapidated" road system to "obsolete" means of communication.

“There is the suspicion - is the bitter conclusion - that there is a plan so that the section of the Green Train does not pass through our municipal area. I wonder, who do you want to benefit from? I feel mugged and teased as a citizen and I feel worse as a mayor ”.
