Tuscany has become the first region to approve the popular initiative bill on the end of life, supported by 10,000 signatures. Monday's decision led to the definition of the regulation for the procedure to be followed by those who want to access assisted suicide. Sardinia, which had already presented a proposal in 2023, had made a commitment: "It will lead the way in Italy on the law for the end of life, in early 2025 it will be approved," it was said last November in a press conference.

On the occasion, Marco Cappato was present, treasurer of the Luca Coscioni association, which promotes the text 'Liberi subito' on the end of life and assisted suicide . With him, the president of the Regional Council and still secretary of the PD, Piero Comandini, and all the group leaders of the broad field, with the two presidents, both PD, two competent commissions (Health and Work), Carla Fundoni and Camilla Soru.

After the installation of the Todde Council, the November declarations seemed to give the green light to the end-of-life path for Sardinia . But, between the issue of areas suitable for renewables, the case of the dismissal of President Todde and now health and finance, the Council has not even begun the process in the Health Commission to which it was assigned on November 15th. And now Tuscany has become the trailblazer.
