A massive drug trafficking network that reached the rest of the island from Montiferru, Marghine, and Planargia. Over 165 kilos of marijuana were seized and 33 people were in trouble in an investigation dating back more than five years. The investigation, after a lengthy trial, concluded with the final seven convictions, with total sentences of nearly thirty years . Some acquittals were also made due to the lack of evidence and the statute of limitations.

The panel of judges (president Carla Altieri, with Marco Mascia and Cristiana Argiolas on the lateral judges) sentenced Vito Maurizio Cossu, 50 years old from Sindia, to 8 years and 10 months; for his fellow villagers Gianluca Cossu (47) and Daniele Cossu (34) respectively a sentence of 7 years and one month and 3 years and 9 months. Giampietro Enna (41) from Bonarcado was sentenced to 3 years and 8 months; Francesco Congiu (71) from Sindia to 3 years and 6 months; Paolo Antonio Ennas (55) from Sassari to one year and 7 months and Nico Pulino to one year and 3 months . All were ordered to pay fines and legal costs. The defence (lawyers Cristina Puddu, Carlo Figus, Mario Gusi, Gianfranco Congiu, Sebastiano Tola) are already considering challenging the sentence and presenting an appeal.

Acquitted were Francesco Manca, 47 years old, Piermarco Nughes (25), Luca Settefonti (50) from Santu Lussurgiu; Andrea Cossu (48) from Sindia; Sandro Farci (51) from Gergei; Francesco Pirastu (52) from Assemini; Mario Sebastiano Curreli (53) from Sassari; Paolo Canu (46) from Ossi; Gabriele Satta (28) from Sindia; Roberto Denanni (63) from Chiaramonti; Sandro Denanni (54) from Chiaramonti; Danilo Dearca (47) from Teti; Salvatore Aru (51) from Macomer; Agata Maria Valentina Scarpulla (45) from Bosa; Maria Pina Devinu (47) from Sassari; Giampiero Gaviano (59) from Serri; Luca Giglio (36) from Bosa; Nicola Sanna (29) from Sindia; Marcello Delrio (53) from Alghero. The others had chosen alternative rites the day after the investigations were closed.
