After the declaration of the regional state of emergency due to drought, decided by the Regional Council on 30 July, the General Civil Protection convened the Regional Operational Committee (COR).
Two meetings were held with the mayors of the municipalities most affected by the emergency, those of Baronia and Ogliastra, in which the regional and territorial structures involved also took part, to take stock of the actions undertaken so far and those to be launched. 69 Municipalities have been identified, to which another 18 are added today.
The document also contains indications and methods for the supply of drinking water to domestic users and agro-livestock companies in water crisis, dedicated to the Municipalities and Reclamation Consortia in the area affected by the emergency. During the meeting, the councilor for environmental protection, Rosanna Laconi, anticipated that the adjustment of the newly approved regional budget provides for new resources to be dedicated to the emergency for an amount of 10 million.
The General Director, Mauro Merella, then gave the floor to the representatives of the Regional Agency of the Hydrographic District, of the General Directorates of the Department of Public Works and Agriculture, of the Governing Body of the Sardinia Area, of the Prefectures of Nuoro , Sassari, Oristano and Cagliari, of the Forestry and Environmental Surveillance Corps, of the Forestas Agency, of the Sardinia Water Authority, of LAORE, ANCI, Abbanoa, of the Reclamation Consortia of Central Sardinia, Ogliastra and Southern Sardinia, of Coldiretti and CoopAgri and of the regional Volunteering Representation. Everyone shared the critical issues and ensured maximum availability for their resolution. In particular, it was highlighted that, at present, as far as domestic users are concerned, despite some restrictions, the situation appears to be under control until the end of the year. For the livestock sector, however, further interventions are necessary.
Hence the request for intervention by the Army not only to deal with the difficulty in finding tankers , also given the concomitance of the forest fire season, but also to make vehicles available for transporting water in the most vulnerable areas. difficult to reach.
