«Don't be afraid to dream big: it takes a lot of work and sacrifice, but with small steps it is possible to reach the finish line. The dream of going to the Olympics is not unattainable. Everything is built starting from small objectives, keeping an eye firmly on the final goal."

The Olympic champion Stefano Oppo met the students of the Galilei high school in Macomer. Olympic bronze in Tokyo in 2021, European Champion in 2020, 4 world titles, 17 times Italian champion: the young man from Oristano shared his experience with the students, involving them in an intense reflection on motivation and commitment in pursuing goals goals.

«The Olympic village is a world apart – says Oppo – which offers you the opportunity to meet, and sometimes get to know, world champions, people with great determination and a spirit of sacrifice who, despite their habit of winning, get excited every time and they are moved. Confronting them allowed me to increase my resolve and aim for ever greater goals."

Determination, goal planning, result orientation and strong motivation: indispensable ingredients in every student's curriculum.

«The objective – explains Paolo Maioli, one of the organizers of the event – is to present our students with a positive model, which serves as a guide for their cultural and social realization, so that they become aware and active citizens, capable of creating their own future, in a society that today more than ever needs to strengthen its values."

The meeting is part of the "Special Team" project that the Institute has been carrying out as a regional Integrated Sport Center for about 10 years.

«We are committed to giving young special students the opportunity to share everyday life and experience the joy of these moments», says school director Gavina Cappai. Adding: «We know that after graduation, society is not ready to welcome them with adequate insertion paths. The intent is to raise awareness among these young people so that one day, as future political decision-makers, they will put inclusion at the center of their agenda."
