Domenico Bagalà is the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Port System Authority of the Sardinian Sea , which manages the ports of Cagliari, Olbia, Golfo Aranci, Porto Torres, Oristano, Santa Teresa Gallura, Portovesme and Arbatax.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, signed the decree granting the temporary mandate , which is intended to ensure administrative continuity and full operation of the Authority until the ordinary governing bodies are restored.

The appointment was formally communicated to the Sardinia Region.

A Calabrese, Bagalà, who for years led Contship in the Cagliari canal port, is well versed in the world of transhipment and freight terminals. Until March 2016, he led Medcenter (also part of the Contship group) in Gioia Tauro, where he was born. An engineer, he has lived in Cagliari for years, and his resume also includes experience in Tangier, Morocco.
