" Just luck, the maneuvers were wrong ." This is the verdict of the Order of Veterinarians of Nuoro after seeing the video - now viral on the web - of the heroic rescue of the dog Marley, by his owner Cristian Pinnas . The animal, which fell ill during a hunting trip, was helped with cardiac massage, medication and an ear incision.

For specialists, who compliment the hunter for his prompt intervention and readiness of mind, " every medical action can be ineffective or even harmful when the person carrying it out is not adequately trained and competent ; from what can be understood from the video, the animal had an epileptic seizure , therefore the type of maneuvers that are seen being performed not only have no scientific correspondence in this case, but can be counterproductive or even harmful".

The incision of the auricle also raises doubts, "as bloodletting is not an indicated therapy in any case of this kind". What Pinnas obtained - therefore - "is to be considered totally fortuitous". Opinions which, however, clash with the diagnosis given to Marley, who after recovering was immediately taken to the vet. After the visits, as the owner says, the confirmation arrived: it was a heart attack, the dog in fact was found to have a heart condition.
