The sad story of Alex, the blind and deaf dog beaten to death by a gang of kids, has sparked controversy and indignation. An episode that has shocked the community of Bono and public opinion, unleashing harsh reactions and a wave of hatred towards a town very active in solidarity initiatives.

"As a Municipality, we will not hesitate to join the civil action if criminal proceedings are opened against those responsible for this serious incident," says the mayor of Bono, Michele Solinas . "As mayor, I would like to point out that our community is not as it has been portrayed, that is, a town of insensitive people where violence reigns. On the contrary, this is a municipality that has about 30 organizations, including volunteer associations and companies involved in social work , hard-working and supportive people that I represent and feel I must defend."

The mayor emphasizes the close collaboration with the local police forces, the Carabinieri and the Local Police, so that those responsible for this terrible act can be identified. Alex, the dog who died after three days of agony , had been beaten on the night of the celebrations of San Raimondo , between August 31st and September 1st, around 4:30 in the central square in front of the town hall in Bono. "We were the first to intervene to rescue the animal and transfer him to the Veterinary Clinic in Sassari," explains the mayor, "just as we proceeded to report and condemn the serious episode, so that those responsible can be ascertained."

The Municipality has made available to investigators the images from the video surveillance cameras that should have filmed the perpetrators, boys who apparently are not citizens of Bono . "I reserve the right to sue anyone who has attacked this community by calling it violent towards animals - adds Michele Solinas - I can, however, highlight that as a municipal administration we have always worked to recover abandoned dogs by starting an adoption campaign that has been successful: today we can say that all the dogs have been adopted".
