Giovannino Pinna struggled with the waves , which slammed him on the shore from one side to the other. The owner of one of the houses in the area, near the Eden Beach establishment on Platamona beach, saw him.

He had gone out to smoke a cigarette when he spotted what he believed to be a body in the distance: but the diver, who had been missing for over 24 hours in the Gulf of Asinara, was frantically looking for support with his hands. So the man, a local resident, rushed towards him, immediately alarming the Carabinieri.

Pinna was exhausted , but when help arrived (the 118 on the spot) he seemed in good health : he was covered up and taken to hospital.

Still no trace of the other diver who was with him, his cousin Davide Calvia.
