A vessel flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, engaged in

commercial operations at the industrial port of Oristano, was stopped by the Port State Control of the local Harbor Office.

The provision follows an inspection carried out on board the cargo to ensure compliance with international and Italian regulations regarding navigation safety.

During the check, deficiencies related to navigation safety were found which, explains the Harbor Office, "at the moment, prevent the departure of the ship until they are resolved by the shipping company".

The merchant vessel will therefore not be able to depart from the Oristano port until the necessary safety conditions on board have been re-established and only after it has been inspected again by the Port State Control Unit.

In detail, seven violations were found, relating to some critical issues regarding emergency equipment, crew safety and the safety management system.
