Not only rescue training activities such as the one organized by the Coast Guard in the Gulf of Cagliari for tomorrow 13 October, with the scenario of an airplane with 55 people on board that catches fire, but from 3 October the sea and skies of Sardinia are affected by the second edition for 2022 of the Open Sea exercise.

Forces from five NATO nations are involved in the exercise underway, operating in the marine theater with ships and submarines, airplanes, helicopters, as well as the amphibious departments of the San Marco Marine Brigade and the Comsubin raiders and divers. At sea, under the surface, in the air and on land, approximately 4,000 military personnel and more than 45 ships and submarines will be employed.

The forces of the Naval Squad will be exercised until 27 October, together with those of the Atlantic Alliance and some foreign navies, operating in the maritime spaces between the Adriatic, Ionian, Tyrrhenian and Strait of Sicily. The command of the activity is on board the Cavour aircraft carrier

Faced with this deployment of NATO forces, as already happened during the first part of the same exercise, in May, the anti-militarists return to the streets. While in the spring the appointment had been in front of the Teulada polygon, now the event moves on Sunday 16 October, at 12, to the Capo Frasca polygon, in the Medio Campidano not far from the Gulf of Oristano.

A protest " against NATO , against the use of Sardinia and Corsica as a function of war, for a Mediterranean of peace and for popular sovereignty in our islands. We cannot allow the wars that will inflame the international scenario to be prepared in Sardinia. . We do not want to be accomplices of the blood that will be shed ", explain the activists of" A Foras ".
