Decimomannu, inaugurated the flight school for future top guns
Maximum 80 "students", a fleet of 22 M-346 aircraft available
The International Flight Training School (Ifts), the new flight school at the Decimomannu military airport, was inaugurated this morning.
Lessons began in July with future top guns, including foreign ones. The Ifts can accommodate up to 80 future Italian and foreign top guns a year which will subsequently be used on front-line fighters. An academy, recreational areas, canteen, sports facilities and logistical-maintenance infrastructures are planned on the campus.
At the students' disposal a fleet of 22 M-346 aircraft and a building dedicated to the Ground "Based Training System (GBTS)" with training rooms and a modern training system with latest generation simulation systems.
General Luigi Casali (Head of the Ifts program office), President Leonardo Luciano Carta, Chief of General Staff Luca Goretti, Vice President of the Region Giuseppe Fasolino, Leonardo's CEO Alessandro Profumo were present at this morning's meeting.
