The two brothers who were arrested yesterday accused of being responsible for the murder of Tonino Porcu, the farmer beaten to death in his house in Ghilarza on the night between 21 and 22 February last were also looking for money to buy drugs.

To frame Rubens and Bryan Carta, 31 and 27, there would be more than one element. Ris specialists found footprints and numerous traces, including biological ones, in the victim's home, attributable to the brothers. And the carabinieri of the investigative unit of the provincial command together with colleagues from the Ghilarza station searched the Carta house - the largest is a construction worker, the smallest works as a social health worker - seizing some clothes, perhaps the same ones that wore the day of the crime.

Other episodes are being examined by the investigators, who in any case maintain strict confidentiality: it cannot be excluded, for example, that in October last year it was the two brothers who entered the house at number 39 in via Regina Elena, where before lived Tonino Porcu, to carry out a theft and erase the traces by starting a fire.

Yesterday in front of the prosecutor of Oristano Marco De Crescenzo and the investigators of the carabinieri, Rubens Carta, defended by the lawyer Angelo Battista Mario Marras, allegedly admitted his responsibilities. While Bryan, represented by the lawyers Fabio Messina and Salvatore Cappai, instead availed himself of the right not to answer.

The hearing to validate the arrest has not yet been set.
