A firm no to Dad and the indiscriminate closure of schools. This is the position of the coordination of the Presidents of the Council of the Club and of the Institute of the Sardinia Region: "The latest attempt to stem the contagiousness of the variant called 'omicron' - remarked Giuseppe Aquila, spokesman for the coordination - proposes the indiscriminate closure of the institutes scholastics of all types and levels throughout the southern territory of the island. A reasonable proposal if, to this, a provision was integrated that could really limit the circulation of the virus, asking everyone - not only and always at the school - the necessary and collective effort useful to face the strongly growing numbers. We do not believe that closing hundreds of schools without distinction, to block tens of thousands of students at home, of pupils and pupils (many of whom at an early age and consequently dependent on their parents in everything) is a viable and acceptable solution. . By closing the doors of the schools, the windows of other places would immediately open in which this population can, and in some cases must, be welcomed, or will find its own spaces to rediscover the denied sociality. Let's think for example of the pupils of kindergartens and primary schools: they certainly do not have that degree of autonomy to be able to be alone at home to follow the lessons in DDI. The presence of an adult is fundamental in all respects, not least that of legal significance, as children under the age of 14 cannot stay at home alone ".

Hence the awareness that smart working is not always practicable to which is added the fact that the assistance of grandparents (if present) is to be avoided such as the use of playrooms or similar structures because it would collide with the principle of the proposed measure. . "Once again - add the coordination components - we are witnessing an attempt that tends to sacrifice the school, strongly influencing the teaching and the psychological and physical well-being of female students, rather than proposing a real proposal that can be decisive, both from a social and health point of view. This Coordination of the Presidents of the Council of the Institute, which is daily in the field together with the school sector, allows itself to propose a suggestion. As sanctioned by article 13 paragraph 1 of Legislative Decree 24/12/2021 n.221, the central government has allocated 9 million euros for the control and identification of the virus and its 'omicron' variant, ensuring the support of the ministry of Defense to carry out this activity through the military laboratories of the molecular diagnostics network distributed throughout the country, to increase diagnostic capabilities and ensure the correct performance of the activities. The Coordination asks to use this tool to carry out a mass screening of the whole school sector. Instead of proposing a total closure - which we consider unfair, useless and harmful - the Coordination proposes to postpone the return to school from 7 to 10 January starting from the most exposed areas to continue tracing throughout the region, using these days to test all the school population, with the support of the Military Health Corps. Over the course of its centuries-old history, this specialized body has always demonstrated high skills in every situation, in Italy and abroad, and a universally recognized professionalism. The school, as repeatedly stressed by the President of the Council of Ministers, must function in the presence; it is, perhaps, the only place where sociability is subjected to strict security protocols that are strictly respected. The contagion within it is certainly much lower than in other contexts ".
