Oristano on the podium of the safest provinces and metropolitan cities in Italy . This is revealed by the 2024 Crime Index of the Sole 24 Ore , thanks to which a ranking was drawn up that starts from the most at-risk place up to the opposite. Thus the Sardinian city, with 1,510.8 reports per 100 thousand inhabitants, is placed in 106th place, unlike Milan which instead confirms itself as the city with the highest number of crimes reported in 2023 , with over 7 thousand reports per 100 thousand inhabitants in 2023. In the Lombard capital, at the top of this ranking for years, reports are up 4.9% compared to the pre-pandemic period, with peaks in thefts and robberies. It is third for sexual violence and fifth for drug-related crimes.

They are followed by large tourist cities such as Rome (2nd place) and Florence (3rd place), which populate the “top 10”. At a national level, reports are increasing for the first time since 2013 , with a growth of 3.8% compared to 2022, with a particular increase in violent crimes: homicides, beatings, injuries and robberies.

Scrolling towards the bottom of the ranking, past the major centres of the peninsula, we find Sassari (66th place) Nuoro (86th place), and then Cagliari, which comes close to Oristano's result, positioning itself in 94th place.
