In Sardinia , in the week from 31 August to 6 September, an improved performance was recorded for cases currently positive at Covid per 100 thousand inhabitants (550), and there was a decrease in new cases (-22.8%) compared to the previous week. This is what the Gimbe foundation notes in the usual weekly report .

New cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last week decreased in all provinces: Oristano stops at 216 (-1.8% compared to the previous week), Nuoro 198 (-18.2%), South Sardinia 179 (- 15.8%), Cagliari 161 (-25.1%), Sassari 136 (-35.1%). Beds in the medical area remain below the national average (5.2%), while ICU beds (2.9%) occupied by Covid patients are above the national average .

As regards the vaccination campaign, the percentage of the population over 5 years that has not received any dose of vaccine is 9.9% (Italy average 9.7%) to which the temporarily protected over 5 year old population must be added, as recovered from the virus for less than 180 days, equal to 2.2%. The percentage of the over 5-year-old population that has not received the third dose of vaccine is 11.8% (Italy average 10.9%) to which the over-5-year-old population healed for less than 120 days, which cannot receive the third dose immediately, equal to 6.2%. The vaccination coverage rate with fourth dose is 12.6% (Italy average 17.7%).

The population aged 5-11 who has completed the vaccination cycle is 41.6% (Italy average 35.1%) to which an additional 4.5% (Italy average 3.3%) must be added with the first dose only.
