There are many Sardinian patients who go to be treated outside the island : from 2012 to 2021 , according to what is certified by the Court of Auditors, Sardinia paid the Northern Regions 742.6 million euros (the highest figure in 2020, 90 million 426 thousand euros) for the flight of its citizens to structures where they evidently find better quality, quantity and times of assistance.
Money that could perhaps be invested locally for cutting-edge equipment, shorten waiting lists, pay doctors more, boost medicine in the territories . Instead, the island is last in Italy in the classification of the satisfaction of the essential levels of assistance (with a rate of just 56%).
« The data on healthcare mobility outside the region make us think, and are a further stimulus to improve . We are working in this direction: to have knowledge of the requests and needs of the population, and to give each hospital its own "mission", through the company deeds in the process of being approved. Not everyone can do everything, and there are no A, B or C series principals, but principals with different intensities of care in compliance with the principles of safety and quality. Enough with the bell towers, and the primaries who want to do their own thing must get back on track . Today more than yesterday it is time to optimize the resources available and give concrete and rapid answers to users», comments Carlo Doria, regional health councilor, in office since the end of November.
